- Year: 2023
The Challenge
I was responsible for the book’s visual concept, content structure, editorial layout, and the relationship between text and image. One of the main challenges was to create a grid system that would ensure clarity and ease of reading in a bilingual publication.
Editorial Decisions
- Grid construction
- Typographic hierarchy
- Creation of paragraph, character, and object styles in InDesign
- Definition of a consistent image system
Grid System
The grid was designed to support clarity, consistency, and flexibility throughout the book. It made it possible to organize text, images, and learning resources in a way that feels structured without becoming rigid.
Text Styles
To ensure consistency across the publication, the entire book was built using paragraph, character, and object styles. Separate style settings were developed for English and Spanish in order to preserve correct spelling, hyphenation, and word breaks in both languages.
Chapter Openers
The chapter opener spreads were designed to introduce each section with clarity while maintaining the visual identity of the book. They help structure the reading experience and create rhythm across the publication.
Double-Page Spreads
The double-page spreads were developed to balance content and visual flow, allowing text and imagery to work together within a consistent editorial system.
