Welcome to the Collage Era: AI Audiovisual Experiment
An experimental audiovisual piece where I used AI to animate my collage language, combining surreal imagery, motion, music, and voice-over into a short retro-futurist film.
As a visual artist specialized in collage, I wanted to explore how artificial intelligence could expand my visual language without losing my identity. Instead of adopting an unfamiliar aesthetic, I chose to animate what I know best: collage. The result is a short audiovisual piece that combines illustration, AI animation, and digitally generated music in a surreal, ironic, and dreamlike universe.

The Challenge
The challenge was to create an animated piece that remained faithful to my artistic language while using new AI tools. The goal was not simply to generate images, but to build a coherent audiovisual world where each scene preserved the visual essence of my collage practice.

- End-to-end brand development
- AI integrated into a real design workflow
- Strong visual coherence
- Critical and ethical perspective
Visual Direction
I conceived the film as a sequence of individual collages. Each scene needed its own visual personality, but also a conceptual or aesthetic bridge to the next one. This approach allowed me to preserve the fragmented logic of collage while creating continuity across the film.
Animation Process
I wrote the prompts for each scene in English, carefully defining the visual tone of the piece: vintage, surreal, and rooted in an analog collage aesthetic. These prompts were used to generate the base images and to guide the animation process, including camera movement, character entrances, and transitions between scenes. In some cases, I also prepared compositions manually in Photoshop by separating characters and backgrounds, which allowed for more controlled and coherent animations aligned with my visual language.
Sound Design: Music and Voice-Over
To reinforce the retro-futurist atmosphere, I added AI-generated music inspired by 1950s swing. I also incorporated an English voice-over with a classic American tone, written with AI assistance, to introduce viewers to this impossible world as if it were a mid-century commercial or documentary.
The final result is a 40-second audiovisual piece in which image, sound, and rhythm work together to bring a surreal collage universe to life. Each scene functions as a gateway to the next, while remaining aligned with the visual identity of my artistic practice. The film closes with simple vintage-inspired credits created in CapCut: Film by Adricollage.
